What is Waspaloy?
Waspaloy is an age-hardening austenitic (face-centred cubic unit cell) nickel-based superalloy. Typical applications for Waspaloy alloys are high temperature applications, especially in gas turbines.
Waspaloy is a Ni-Cr-Co based precipitation hardening deformation superalloy The temperature of Waspaloy is below 815℃.
Waspaloy alloy is solid solution strengthened by adding cobalt, chromium and molybdenum elements, adding aluminum and titanium elements to form γ’ precipitation strengthening phase, adding boron and zirconium elements to purify and strengthen the grain boundary Waspaloy alloy has high yield strength and fatigue resistance at 760~870℃. It has good anti-oxidation and anti-corrosion properties in the gas turbine atmosphere below 870 °C, good processing plasticity, and stable microstructure and properties
What is Waspaloy used for?
It is suitable for making parts such as turbine discs, working blades, high-temperature fasteners, flame tubes, shafts and turbine casings. Is an age-hardenable nickel-based superalloy with excellent mechanical properties up to 980°C (1800°F).
Other features include excellent corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, suitable for service in extreme environments. The alloy still has a fairly good strength value in the temperature range of 760-870°C (1400-1600°F), as well as excellent oxidation resistance. It can be used in the working environment of gas turbine engines at temperatures up to 870°C (1600°F). In the temperature range of 620-650°C (1150-1200°F). The creep rupture strength of the alloy is significantly better than that of the 718 alloy. Its short-term thermal tensile strength below 730°C (1350°F) is inferior to RA718.
